Reproduction sixteenth century Italian frame.

This was a reproduction sixteenth century Italian frame that we were commissioned to produce for an important 16th century painting.  As you can see from our images, the frame was aged in the wood prior to being gilded and painted, this was achieved by carving any straight edges so that the frame had movement and was in keeping with the period.  The arabesques (scroll design) to the frieze was hand drawn and then gilded; the rest of the frame was painted and aged to imitate a frame from the 16th century.
