Auricular hand carved mirror. Produced by Perceval Designs

Our Auricular hand carved mirror frame can be made to order in any size and is a reproduction of the 17th century Auricular style frame.  The form of the Auricular frame is largely organic resembling ears and ear lobes (hence the name ‘auricular’); conch shells, grotesque masks, scrolls and foliage.  In England this Mannerist frame also became known as the 'Sunderland' frame due to Robert Spencer, 2nd Earl of Sunderland, using it to furnish the walls of the gallery at Althorp.

We can produce this frame to various finishes; shown here in an aged wood finish and also available gilded to a period finish - please contact us to discuss.
