Reproduction 17th Century Baroque Italian frame for The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Here the main image shows the antique frame within the arched reproduction, which was used as our model for the colour and finishing.  The reproduction 17th century baroque Italian frame was around twelve feet in height and therefore made in sections that could be dismantled for shipping and also made life easier for gilding and finishing.  The painted black surfaces had a lovely lacquered look to them which we replicated and complemented the aged water gilding.  The frame is now hanging at The Metropolitan Museum of Art for a painting by Francisco de Zurbarán.
