Reproduction Florentine 15th century tabernacle frame for Sandro Botticelli
We were asked to produce this tabernacle frame for Botticelli’s 'The Virgin Adoring the Sleeping Christ Child'. The frame has stop-fluted Corinthian pilasters supporting the entablature with dentil moulding and the base with lotus leaf moulding. The frame was entirely hand carved, water gilded and the inscriptions all hand-painted. The gilding was then aged and distressed to give the appearance of an antique 15th century period frame.
